Gulf Air grounds two aircraft for checks after minor collision

Gulf Air had to ground two aircraft after a minor collision during a ground operation moving one aircraft to maintenance facilities at Muharraq airport.

aircraft would be temporarily grounded and undergo full maintenance checks in line with international standards before returning to schedule.

"One of the wings of an Airbus A330 clipped a parked Airbus A340 while being towed from the bay to hangar by the ground handling service company," said an airline spokeswoman.

The collison is a reportable incident and will be the subject of an investigation involving the airline and the CAA. Both aircraft have to temporarily grounded and undergo full maintenance checks in line with international standards before returning to scheduled operations. This is now happeningand will not affect operations.
