Mauritius new terminal gets first flight

Air Mauritius made the inaugural flight to Rodrigues – a repeat of the airline’s first destination in 1972. Rodrigues is an autonomous island but is a dependency of Mauritius.
It has 70 passengers on board the ATR72, 3B-NBN Ile aux Aigrettes.
Passengers included Serge Clair, GCSK Chief Commissioner of Rodrigues .
CEO Andre Viljoen said “The New Terminal Building paves the way for improved services at our home base, Mauritius. As national airline of Mauritius, all our flights leave from Mauritius and terminate in Mauritius. The new facilities are therefore a much welcome improvement and will help us step UP Customer Experience on ground. The launch of operations at the Domestic Terminal is the first phase of our move to the New Terminal building and has required a lot of hard work from the whole of Air Mauritius. I would like to pay tribute to all our team members across the organisation for their hard work and dedication. Together with the airport authorities and airport stakeholders, we ensured that the start of operations occurred without a single hitch! Our next focus is the move of international operations in a week’s time to the New Terminal and I wish the whole team well”
