WDS: Rheinmetall Air Defense and MAZ Group create joint venture
Rheinmetall Air Defense and MAZ Group have joined forces to create the local joint venture RADARABIA.
The project will concentrate on manufacturing and maintenance, and train Saudis on the Air Defense systems and participate in the localisation and transferring technologies to the Kingdom for the Vision 2030.
RADARABIA is geared towards the localisation of the production and the know-how (through the qualification and training of Saudi engineers and technicians) in ground-based and naval air defence systems to raise competitiveness and sustainable job opportunities in the Kingdom.
Ibrahim AlZeer, chairman of RADARABIA, said: “The company will build a factory in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with an area of 25,000 square meters to localise the manufacture and development of weapons and technologies dedicated to air defence systems. It will maintain the equipment and produce the spare parts for these systems that are used for the defence against air targets, e.g., missiles, aircraft, drones, and projectiles.”
The products include fully automated search-and-tracking sensors, 35 mm air-defence guns, command-and- control posts, battle management and ship-based combat systems.
