Other than the FAA dispatcher training there appears to be little on offer in this area, the university said.

According to the university, the course will fill a void in the market for the training of all operations staff and is directed at personnel wanting to start a career in aviation, as well as being advantageous to people already employed in this field, who wish to advance their careers further.

The course is run online andis  totally distance learning based allowing students to study at a time and pace to suit themselves.

The course will cover a wide range of aviation subjects such as

Introduction to the aviation working environment (Foundation Course)

       Aircraft Performance

       Air Law

       Flight Planning

       General Navigation

       Ground Handling & Safety

       Human Factors

       Mass & Balance

       Meteorology

       Operational Procedures

       Principles of Flight

The aim of the course is to ensure that all operations staff have the required depth of knowledge and understanding of aviation.   The course will enable them to carry out their role in a more professional and efficient manner, and to be able to communicate with flight crew and other operators in a confident manner.

The course takes approximately 150 hours of study time plus assessments, and is now available. The course is  split into two parts with the Foundation course being done as an introduction to the aviation working environment followed by the main course in a lot more detail.
