MEBA10: Falcons fly in to ECFT

Three new Falcon simulators will be the latest additions to Emirates-CAE Flight Training Centre (ECFT). The Falcon 900EX and 2000EX are due to come online in early 2011, with the Dassault flagship 7X by springtime.

Camille Mariamo, ECFT’s managing director, is bullish about the type rating training organisation’s prospects. He said: “I believe in this region, which has had a strong growth record.”

Since opening in December 2003 the facility has consistently grown and now houses 14 simulators. Three quarters of the training offered is for business aviation, reflecting the growing importance of the sector to the Middle East region.

A key differentiator for Dubai is its VIP service. People in the Gulf are used to high standards of customer care, and Mariamo highlighted the lengths to which the centre is prepared to go to accommodate its clients. He said: “Depending on what people want, we can pick them up at the airport, or help with hotels, for example. People like coming here because of the level of
service we provide.”

There are 200 students training at any one time, including flight crews, maintenance staff and flight attendants, with some 50-60 per cent of students coming from the Middle East.
