Etihad in the market for South African cabin crew

South African nationals who are hospitality professionals now have the opportunity to take their career high into the sky by joining Etihad Airways as the UAE national carrier begins a recruitment drive in the country.

The Abu Dhabi based airline is seeking cabin crew, food and beverage managers, and qualified inflight chefs.

The recruitment day will take place in Cape Town on Tuesday, 6 May. It will offer applicants the opportunity to meet Etihad Airways’ recruitment specialists. Applicants need to be pre-registered on www.etihad.com/careers/cabin.

New cabin crew members undergo a seven-week training program conducted at Etihad Airways’ state-of-the-art Training Academy in Abu Dhabi.

Aubrey Tiedt, Etihad Airways’ vice president guest services, said: “To support the rapid, dynamic expansion of Etihad Airways, we are delighted to host our recruitment drive in South Africa, a strategically important market for the airline. “Our team hails from more than 110 nationalities and enjoys great career development opportunities commencing as cabin crew, inflight chefs or food and beverage managers, and progressing to onboard leadership and management roles.”

Some 243 South African nationals currently work for Etihad Airways, including 107 core staff, 120 cabin crew and 16 pilots. Staff enjoy many benefits including medical insurance and housing support, in addition to access to a wealth of world-class leisure, sports and entertainment activities.

Etihad Airways employs over 4,000 cabin crew representing 110 nationalities.
