Air Madagascar gets new CEO with 'collegiate' plans for revival

Canadian Gilles Filiatreaut has previously held the position of chief executive officer at a number of airlines including Cayman Airways and Caribbean Star Airlines. He was most recently employed as a consultant with Canadian Metro Airlines.
Filiatreaut has held meeting with Air Madagascar staff to share his mission to turn the ailing airline, which was hampered by a major strike earlier in the year, around and to give it a new impetus.
"I am very happy to be back in the area. I anticipate a collegial collaboration with the staff of Air Madagascar, because success is only possible with the participation of all. This is a job for all and by all. To have a new altitude requires a new attitude,” Filiatreaut said.
The flag carrier was without a director for three months, since the strike action in July forced management and the board to resign.
