Egypt's Smart Aviation to acquire maiden helicopter
Smart Aviation is to acquire a Eurocopter AS350B3 to service contracts with electrical engineering firms active across Egypt, reports ch-aviation.
The helicopter, which will be acquired outright and not leased in order to save on costs, will be used for the cleaning of power transmission pylons and other supporting infrastructure.
CEO Rushdie Zakaria said Smart Aviation, for the first half of the current financial year up to June, managed to post a profit of USD2.2 million thanks to a carefully drafted restructuring plan. Among the plan's finer points are the return to airworthiness of a King Air 350, jointly owned with Egypt's National Company for Navigation Services, for use in calibrating aeronautical navigation beacons.
