The event, organised by Arabian Reach, will be held at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai (UAE) on 30-31 January 2013 and will focus on major airport projects under construction and expansion in the Emerging Markets of the MENA, Asia, Russia & Eastern Europe as well as provide updates on the latest technologies and ground-breaking solutions available in the market for bringing more efficiency, safety, speed and comfort in airports.

Al Shueili (pictured left) will provide perspective on the Oman government’s strategic plans to expand its current airport capacity to 48 million passengers p/a by 2050. Oman’s airports in recent years experienced a period of healthy growth in passenger numbers, this positive and considerable growth is being driven by a number of factors including fleet and route expansion by the national carrier Oman Air as well as the rapid development of the tourism and economic sector of the country.

Th e expansion of Muscat International Airport, the largest airport in Oman, includes a new terminal that will have a capacity of 12 million passengers annually. Further expansions planned in three subsequent phases will ultimately boost the airport’s annual capacity to 24, 36 and 48 million passengers when the demand is required.

The expansion of Salalah Airport, the second largest airport in Oman, involves upgrading it from primarily a domestic airport to make it  more suitable for international travelers, including building a new runway long enough to handle the A380 Airbus, and a new  terminal that will improve the airport's capacity to 1 million passengers annually.

“Oman Airports Management Company is responsible for the management and operation of Muscat International and Salalah Airports and for the future new airports of Adam, Ad Duqm, Sohar and Ras Al Hadd. The infrastructure of the airports such as the terminal buildings, cargo building, runway, apron and car parking is directly under OAMC’s management,” said Raj Menon, general manager of Arabian Reach. “Oman Airports Management Company’s participation will add value to the event and further enhance EACE’s status as the airport industry’s leading gathering in the Middle East.”
