Air Transport leaders descend on Aviation AFRICA 2024
Top executives and officials from across the airline and air transport world will assemble at the 8th Aviation AFRICA Summit & Exhibition.
The event is being held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Gauteng, South Africa on 16 & 17th September 2024.
The welcome address at the Summit will be given by Poppy Khoza, the Director of Civil Aviation of the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA). The event is officially hosted by the Government of South Africa and the Ministry of Transport and led by the SACAA.
The summit will feature keynote addresses from Abdérahmane Berthé, Secretary General, African Airlines Association (AFRAA); Alcinda Pereira, Chair, African Business Aircraft Association (AfBAA); Kamil Al-Alwadhi, Regional Vice President for Africa & Middle East, IATA; and Sanjeev Gadhia, CEO, Astral Aviation.
The airline CEO panel will include Rodger Foster, CEO of South African carrier Airlink and Lulu Rasebotsa, the CEO of Air Botswana, while the airport leaders panel will feature Mpumi Mpofu, CEO, Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) and Mwamba Patience Nakambale, Airport Manager of Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport, Zambia.
The final panel on Day 2, titled “Putting it all together: where does Africa go from here” features Kevin Storie, CEO, Commercial Aviation Association of Southern Africa (CAASA); Dawit Lemma, CEO, Krimson Aviation; Aaron Munetsi, CEO, Airlines Association of Southern Africa (AASA); and Henok Teferra Shawl, Managing Director Africa, Boeing Global.
According to Aviation AFRICA Summit chair, Alan Peaford: “The 8th Aviation Africa Summit has once again drawn a fantastic response from speakers from across the continent and further afield to debate the issues and challenges the continent undoubtedly faces to realise its full potential.”
According to Mark Brown, CEO of Times Aerospace Events, which organises the event: “With around 1,500 delegates expected to attend Aviation AFRICA in South Africa the Summit will be our largest ever.”
The Aviation Africa Summit & Exhibition is regarded as the continent’s leading annual meeting place for the continent’s commercial air transport industry.
“This is the first time the event has taken place in South Africa, and it comes at an important time as the country recovers and rebuilds from the turbulence of the past few years,” said Brown.
