ACAC Rabat meeting hailed as a success

The Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Commission (ACAC) held its 39th session in the Moroccan capital Rabat. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, the Director General of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) chaired the meeting.

Attending the meeting were members of the Executive Council of the UAE, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Morocco, the Republic of Yemen, and a representative of the League of Arab States.

Al Suwaidi who is also the chairman of the ACAC Executive Council started the meeting by reiterating the importance of convening to enhance the role of ACAC. He also credited the members of the Executive Council and the General Manager of the Commission for their efforts to implement and follow up the agenda to execute the development plan.

ACAC's Director General Eng. Mohammed El Alj also welcomed the members and thanked them for their constant support to the management in achieving the ACAC goals. He also thanked the member states for their serious adherence to the action plan adopted in previous session.

The UAE was represented by a delegation from the GCAA comprising of Laila Ali Bin Hareb, Executive Director of Strategy '&' International Affairs; Mariam Al Balooshi, Environmental Studies Manager; and Sameer Kalbouneh, Chief Corporate Development Specialist '&' Projects Portfolio Manager - Acting Director of Corporate Development The GCAA has started the comprehensive transformation project of the ACAC in an effort to develop the Commission and be in line with new and modern working environment and to face the challenges witnessed by the civil aviation industry regionally and internationally, says a press statement.

The participating states reviewed the draft amendments of agreement of forming new Commission recommended by the Executive Council in the 37th session held in Rabat on 1 and 2 December 2010. They also reviewed the agreement drafted by the legal team appointed in accordance with the recommendation (No3 E.C./38) and discussed the responses and the proposals on all topics.

Participating states agreed to discuss the strategy developed by the UAE's GCAA in the next Executive Council meeting so the member states have enough time to review the draft prior before submitting their suggestions to ACAC management.
