Founding chairman, Tarek Ragheb, held several meetings with senior US government officials.

“The meetings with the US Department of Transport (US DOT), and the US Export and Import Bank (US ExIm) could not have been better timed,” said Ragheb. “The discussions reiterated that these agencies are looking for a credible association, such as AfBAA, to become a trusted partner in promoting Business Aviation in Africa.”

Both agencies highlighted the fact that promoting Business Aviation in Africa is high on their agendas and they are actively pushing to build stronger ties with Africa.

Ragheb added: “Besides the obvious need to promote US business aviation interests on the continent, the US government also wants to assure that financing options are available for asset acquisition and that safety standards, affordable access to airports, and improved understanding of fractional-ownership are communicated to the African DCAA.

“We plan to foster a stronger relationship with these key agencies as well as the US Trade Development Agency to develop the African business aviation market.”
