This will be the first of its type in the kingdom, and the second in the region, after Emirates.

“This qualification will offer our students an internationally recognised degree,” said Khalid Al Bastaki, BAETC training manager. “BAETC is a pioneer in its sector, bringing unique programmes to Bahrain and elevating industry standards across the region. Edexcel’s academic and vocational qualifications allow students to progress to university and higher education institutions in many countries.”

The programme will open in February to the current BAETC students, who will simultaneously receive the EASA 147 training and the Edexcel HND, as well as to previous graduates who are eligible to do a condensed programme to receive the Edexcel HND.

Edexcel has more than four million students enrolled on its courses in more than 85 countries.

“This programme speaks highly about the Kingdom of Bahrain,” added Al Bastaki. “It is now competing with the rest of the world in developing further through a means of higher education and training.”

BAETC was created by BAS in order to resolve the issue of the shortage of aircraft engineers throughout the Gulf.

Al Bastaki said: “BAS invested in a state-of-the-art BD 1 million training facility. The aim is for BAETC to be the premier centre of excellence for aircraft engineering in the GCC and Middle East.”
