Harris Corporation to modernise ATC systems in the Congo

Harris will supply its Liberty-STAR Voice Communication and Control Systems (VCCS) to the Bangoka International Airport in Kisangani, Kinshasa (N'djili) International Airport and Lubumbashi International Airport.
Liberty-STAR VCCS features a modular architecture, open-platform software and commercial-off-the-shelf hardware that delivers a reliable, scalable communications solution for ATC towers, airline and area control dispatch, flight service stations, and mobile shelters. Each system will be equipped with touch-screen operator positions, radio interfaces, telephone interfaces, and a System Maintenance, Administration and Reconfiguration Terminal.
“Economic vitality for the DRC centers on its vast natural resource offerings and the ability to get them to market,” said Carl D’Alessandro, vice president and general manager, Civil Programs, Harris Government Communications Systems. “Working closely with our partners to stabilize the nation’s aviation infrastructure will be imperative in ensuring the country can continue to grow and prosper.”
