UK firm to build Uganda's second airport

According to reports, aircraft runway of Kabaale Airport is supposed to be capable of accommodating large cargo airplanes with carrying capacity of 112 - 250 tonnes and with ability to accommodate take-off runs of at least 3,500m.
Kabaale International Airport is a proposed international airport on a greenfield site, to be constructed in the oil rich Albertine region in western Uganda.
The Government of Uganda seeks to develop an airport that should be able to initially handle international cargo flights, and, later on, other commercial operations serving the Hoima area. This will be the country’s second international airport, after Entebbe International Airport.
The estimated reserves in the Albertine region as a whole are about 2 billion barrels, enough to sustain production for 20 years.
In September, the cabinet of Uganda approved a loan for the construction of Kabaale International Airport to “facilitate the transportation of vital equipments to enable production of Oil by 2020, in line with Government’s set target for the production of Oil”.
