Nigerian airports record 13m travellers in 2012

According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), 2.4 million extra passengers travelled through Nigeria's airports in 2012 compared to the previous year, Panapress has reported.

Last year saw 13.4 million passengers travelling through Nigeria's airports, compared to 11 million travellers in 2011.

Panapress reported that a breakdown of the figures released by FAAN showed that arrival and departure recorded 6.9 million and 6.5 million passengers respectively during the period.

In a statement to Panapress FAAN said: “Yuletide period was the peak period that the management recorded high patronage as travellers came into the country for holidays."

April, May, June, July and December 2012 also recorded high passenger traffic.
