Lusaka truck collision grounds Emirates B777

The Dubai carrier has a an aircraft on the ground (AOG) at the Zambian capital’s airport after it was substantially damaged following a collision with a fuel tanker.
Sources say that the Boeing 777-300ER, Emirates Flight 714, was about to take on its Jet A1 fuel when the tanker rammed into one of the engines, causing severe damage.
An AOG team has flown to Lusaka to repair the damage – this is the second time in recent months that Emirates has had an AOG incident with its Lusaka service. The first came in October after an engine failed. There are currently no MRO facilities at the the airport.
Emirates brought a replacement 777 to fly passengers from Lusaka to Dubai.
