KAA to open two new Jomo Kenyatta International Airport terminals
The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) is to open two new terminals at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

This comes ahead of an April audit that could determine the airport’s upgrade to category 1 status by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Terminals 1E and 1A are to be commissioned by president Uhuru Kenyatta.
“It is all part of our commitment to deliver on our promise to offer world class service efficiently and effectively to our different stakeholders and the people of Kenya that is why we are opening these new terminals,” said KAA acting managing director Yatich Kangugo.
The airport has met requirements from International Civil Aviation authority (ICAO), helping the upgrade to category one status that would allow for direct flights between Nairobi and Washington.
An announcement next month will reveal if the airport has been upgraded, and whether it will be launching direct Washington flights.
