The project consists of construction of a new parallel runway and associated taxiways at the Kitale airstrip, rehabilitation of Suneka airstrip and construction of new airstrips in Eldas and Mandera-Wargadud.

“The objective of the consultancy is to carry out environmental and social impact assessment of the proposed projects and prepare the resultant EIA project reports for submission to NEMA (National Environment Management Authority). In addition, the assessment must conform to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) guidelines,” said Margaret Muraya, KAA acting general manager for procurement and logistics.

The renovations and constructions work alongside the government’s plans to upgrade airports and enhance connectivity.
