Dans appoints first Emirati female duty manager in Dubai to manage air traffic control operations

Marwa Al Matrooshi, who joined the Organisation in 2004 as an Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO), has become the first ever Emirati Female successfully endorsed to become a Duty Manager in the Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower in Dubai. The duty manager’s role operates from the Air Traffic Control Tower at Dubai International Airport (DXB), where she is responsible for managing the daily direction of ATC operations, as well as ensuring consistency in safety and service delivery. In addition, Al Matrooshi will also be responsible for managing an entire watch which comprises of five Air Traffic Control Officers working on different positions within ATC operations in the ATC tower.
Mohammed A. Ahli, the director general of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and the CEO of Dans said: “In trust of the avowed direction of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, affirming the importance of the role of the youth as the main driving engine of the nation’s success story; HH Sheikh Mohammed has stated that the youth are the beacon of light of the present as well as the future, and that it is with the spirit of the youth that we have been able to become a pioneering nation. HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum has dedicated a strategy to enhance confidence, provide opportunities and investment, and create an innovative environment for the youth to excel in.”
He added: “Marwa Al Matrooshi is a vigorous example of an Emirati lady who has lived by and fulfilled the vision of HH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. A profound example of a young lady dedicated, hardworking and ambitious to strive high to become the first ever UAE National female appointed as a duty manager in the Air Traffic Control Tower at Dubai International Airport (DXB). It is our honour and pride to have Marwa as part of our organisational team, and we salute her for setting a pioneering example to all other Emirati ladies in order to encourage them to join unique sectors such as that of air traffic management”.
