“The government’s strategy for Djibouti and one of its Vision 2035 pillars is the development of the country as a regional logistics and commercial hub for trade in East Africa,” said airline chairman Aboubaker Omar Hadi.
The two new airports, Hassan Gouled Aptidon International Airport and Ahmed Dini Ahmed International Airport, will together handle more than two million passengers and more than 100,000 tons of air cargo.
Air Djibouti was established in February 2015 by the government of the Republic of Djibouti to internationally connecting Djibouti and the $1 trillion market of East Africa. Djibouti's current transport (including Air Djibouti) and logistics infrastructure program exceeds $14 billion.
Air Djibouti will be operating to the European Union and Dubai and has secured the aircraft for these routes and is expected to announce further details of its freight operations and aircraft types within the week.
