Another promise for Swaziland's new airport

The Swaziland airport dubbed “King Mswati's vanity project” - Sikhuphe Airport - will be ready to open before the end of 2013, according to Solomon Dube, Director of the Swaziland Civil Aviation Authority (SWACAA).

But Dube was at pains to make it clear that it was up to King Mswati III to decide the opening date.
A number of 'opening dates' have been announced since 2009. To date no international airline has registered an interest in Sikhuphe.
Allegations have been made in South African’s Mail and Guardian newspaper claiming major structural defects in the airport's concrete apron and which render it unfit for use by large commercial aircraft. SWACAA say 822 passengers a day are expected to use the airport.
