New Qatar Airways CEO unveils latest business class seat
When Qatar Airways eventually receives its first Boeing 777-9, possibly towards the end of 2025, the aircraft will debut the latest iteration of its Qsuite business class seat.
The carrier’s Group chief executive officer, Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, unveiled what it flags as the “new, ultra-modern Qsuite Next Gen” on the first morning of the Farnborough International Airshow 2024 to a packed room of VIPs and media.
Already renowned as one of the best business class products on the market, the carrier said that with the Qsuite the airline “has once again redefined luxury and innovation, elevating the industry’s benchmark in business class experiences”.
During the reveal, which took place in the airline’s Discovery Lounge, a specially constructed designated area at the entrance to the exhibition, Al-Meer highlighted the Qsuite Next Gen’s new and enhanced features, including fully customisable Quad Suites; Companion Suites in window aisles; 4K OLED manoeuvrable in-flight entertainment (IFE) screens; along with increased space and privacy in each suite.
The Qsuite has been exclusively designed by the airline in partnership with its cabin systems supplier Adient Aerospace, a joint venture company between Adient and Boeing, Xia Cia, Senior Vice-President Product Development and Design at Qatar Airways told journalists.
Cia, who worked with the carrier on the original Qsuite design launched in 2017, said the redesigned product will debut on the 777-9 first and then installed onto new Airbus A350s. The carrier will explore retrofitting the new Qsuite onto its existing A350 fleet.
The new Qsuite has been 3-4 years in the making with the aim to deliver a product that is “a business class seat that is as good as anybody’s first class”, said Cai. In addition to all the product enhancements the new Qsuite delivers an extra enhancement is that it is lighter than the current Qsuite, she added.
