Two dead as Dash 8 collides with Cessna 172 in Kenya
Two people have been confirmed dead after a mid-air plane crash involving a training aircraft and a passenger plane in Nairobi, Kenya.
Local police said the Dash 8, belonging to SafariLink, collided with a single-engine Cessna 172 operated by 99 Flying School with a student and trainer losing their lives.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement: “We wish to confirm that an aircraft accident occurred at 10:05hrs involving a Cessna aircraft belonging to Ninety-Nines Flying School and a Dash 8 belonging to Safarilink Aviation. Investigations have commenced through various agencies led by the Air Accident Investigation Department (AAID) and the National Police Service to establish the cause of the accident. Safety of the public, property, and operations remains paramount to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority.”
