Kuwait Airways to lose 25% of workforce
Some 1500 ‘foreign staff’ are to lose their jobs with Kuwait Airways. The airline has not yet said which departments will be affected.
According to Reuters the airline will lay off foreign staff only, quoting Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Qabas, Kuwaitis, those married to Kuwaitis and those who hold citizenship of other Gulf Arab states will not be affected by the job cuts.
The job losses represent about 25% of the flag carrier’s workforce. Last year Kuwait Airways reported losses of $427 million.
