Independent team appointed for Gulf Air accident investigation

The three-member team led by the Deputy Director of Air Safety for the Indian Civil Authority Mr S.K.Brahmane, appointed by the Director General of the Indian Civil Aviation (DGCA) will be supported by officials from Bahrain Civil Aviation.
A preliminary report is expected in one week followed by a final report in approximately six.
In a statement today, Gulf Air said that until the report is released ‘no official comments or statements will be issued referring to the cause of the incident. Speculation as to the cause of the incident at this stage would not only be improper, but potentially misleading and incorrect, and damaging to the feelings and/or reputations of parties involved,” the airline said.
However in India, the country’s Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi cited bad weather as a possible cause. said “Heavy rain and strong winds were there. Then, it landed and slipped,”
The DGCA has ordered an investigation into the incident. But local sources were quoting a DGCA official who said: “A clear picture would emerge only after the investigation was completed, though initial reports suggest the aircraft was not correctly aligned with the runway when it landed.”
