Cemair beomes Africa's largest CRJ operator

Johannesburg operator Cemair has become Africa's largest Bombardier CRJ fleet owner following a deal to buy 16 of the type from Delta Airways.

Cemair currently owns three CRJs and 10 Beech 1900 turboprops.
The company has operating and leasing experience throughout Africa and the Middle East, including Afghanistan, Tunisia, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Mali, Gabon, Ghana, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique as well as South Africa.
The deal with the American operator includes engines and parts. Five aircraft will be placed on contract operations outside South Africa, while another three units will operate in the domestic network.
The remaining aircraft will either be parted out or sold to be parted outCEO Miles van der Molen, said.
