Air Namibia and Condor sign code-share agreement

In a press statement issued late last week, Air Namibia said the Frankfurt-based Condor Flugdienst would fly to Windhoek twice weekly on Monday and Friday, with Air Namibia operating supplementary flights on the same route.
"From April (2017) on-wards, all code-share flights will be available with a Condor flight number and airline code “DE” through the Condor booking channels. Passengers can make their plans with more flexibility and chose from nine weekly connections during the summer flight plan and from seven weekly connections in the upcoming winter," the airline said.
Chairman of the Board of Condor Flugdienst GmbH Ralf Teckentrup said with daily non-stop flights from Frankfurt to Windhoek, Condor and Air Namibia passengers will benefit from an expanded selection of holiday destinations in Southern Africa and a continuous baggage check-in service on code-share flights.
Further, he said the code-share agreement with Air Namibia was one of several initiatives underway to expand German links with Africa's prime tourism destinations.
“Our existing Africa routes are being optimally complemented with the agreement so that, in addition to Zanzibar, Mombasa, Kilimanjaro, Windhoek and Cape Town, other parts of Southern Africa can also be explored on long haul flights,” he added.
Regionally, the Air-Namibia-Condor code-share flights are also expected to spread Air Namibia flights to the rest of Southern Africa, with convenient connections to destinations such as Johannesburg, CapeTown Harare and Walvis Bay.
Through collaboration with Condor, Air Namibia will benefit from seamless travel options via Frankfurt to North America, the Caribbean and other global Condor holiday destinations that were previously beyond reach.
The agreement now awaits approval from the German Civil Aviation Authority and the Namibia Civil Aviation Authority.
