Air Burkina engine fire heralds end for CEO
Burkina Faso is again relying on international carriers for its air transport following an engine fire on Air Burkina’s only operational Embraer E195 aircraft last week.
Although nobody was injured and the fire on the engine was contained, media sources say that CEO/general manager Blaise Sanou, has been relieved on his role by the government.
The fire broke out at Ouagadougou Airport last Thursday as it prepared for a flight to Daker.
Air Burkina operates three E195 regional jets but two are currently in Nairobi undergoing maintenance with Kenya Airways.
A replacement for Sanou is beinng sought with a possible strategy of part-privatisation of the airline, according to Air Journal.
