It will use Bombardier Dash-8 aircraft and offer a weekend service.  The 25-minute flight will operate on Thursdays and Saturdays.

“This service substantially increases the weekend break proposition of Sir Bani Yas Island, which now become closer than ever to the Abu Dhabi and Dubai markets,” said Lee Tabler, chief executive of Tourism Development and Investment Corporation.

The Dash-8 flight complements the Empire Aviation Cessna Caravan service to Sir Bani Yas Island, which was launched in January and operates every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.  The Cessna Caravan flight is a 50-minute panoramic journey between Abu Dhabi and the former Royal nature reserve.  “The Cessna flight is a scenic experience which gives visitors an insight into why the Desert Islands will be a destination like no other as it flies over desert landscape, natural islands and beautiful sea,” added Tabler.

Abu Dhabi Aviation is primarily a helicopter operater but has a fleet of eight Dash-8s. It has two Q200s, five Q300s and a single Q400.
