IDEX 2021 - The safe live show with plenty to celebrate
As the IDEX show draws to a close in Abu Dhabi, TATV brings its Show Business wrap programme to give a taste of the event highlights.
As the first physical aerospace and defence event in almost a year IDEX attracted more than 70,000 participants with some 900 exhibitors from 59 countries. All carried out in a Covid-safe environment with delegates undergoing daily free PCR testing to allow safe business to be done.
And indeed it was with key new relationships sealed and products, services and equipment sold.
New launches – such as the UAE’s defence giant EDGE’s QX family of micro and mini UAVs – were unveiled with fanfares around the show site.
Government delegations from Europe and Asia were in attendance and despite a travel ban affecting flights out of Tel Aviv, there was enough of an Israeli presence to justify the “historic” tag to the event’s attendance.
In this nine-minute tour of the show, presenter Jill Stockbridge identifies the key moments as we talk to Ahmad Al-Ohali, governor of Saudi Arabia’s defence regulator GAMI about the changing vision for the Kingdom’s defence industry; Alan Peaford hears about a new product that could revolutionise 24-hour search and rescue services in Gulf waters and Jay Menon jumps into a dog’s world.
The programme is sponsored by Abu Dhabi Aviation.
