It was agreed during the meeting that the flights of Turkish Airlines will connect Istanbul and Mauritius via Seychelles as from October 2014 with three to four flights per week. After several operations, Turkish Airlines will consider operating direct flights to Mauritius in view of increasing the connectivity between the two countries. A bilateral agreement will also be signed between both countries explained Hon. Michael Sik Yuen.

“Mauritius represents an attractive destination for the Turkish tourists and there is no doubt that the tourism products will fit the niche market of the Turkish travelers” added the Minister of Tourism, Michael Sik Yuen. It is worth noting that Turkey has a population of about 76 million and Mauritius has a lot more to offer in terms of activities as compared to other destinations.

Several promotional campaigns will also be conducted in Turkey such as press trips, eductours and shooting of films. The main segments to be targeted are wedding and honeymoon, golf, kitesurf, ecotourism and beach.
